Lucas in search of writers
So you want to be a writer for George Lucas? Looks like Lucas is scouting about for writers on his animated Star Wars series (anyone ever heard of Star Wars?) The shows will be a combination of animation and cgi and will take place in between Episode 3 and Star Wars.
I KNOW some of you are interested in this (heck if I had any talent I’d be interested it it). The chosen few will be holed up in his Skywalker ranch for security while the programming is written (50 hours or so).

Alienware Is Just Gorgeous
I was looking for deals for a friend who is in the process of purchasing an Alienware system (Phoenix, the link’s at the bottom) and I came across this press release and just could not stop drooling.
From said press release:
The Aurora 7500 is now available with Alienware Liquid Cooling Technology and the NVIDIA; GeForce 7800 GTX KO ACS3 graphics card.
Liquid cooling=No fans
No fans=Whisper Quiet
The new GeForce 7800 GTX KO ACS3 increases performance levels of the standard GeForce 7800 GTX graphics card from 430MHz to 490MHz to further improve gameplay on all the latest games.

RSS Daily – Google.com/ig and NetVibes.com
Two cool new sites hope to be your homepage. Each is highly customizable, each comes complete with a Google Search Box and a GMail Notifier, and they both look almost just alike.
I haven’t done alot of research on this, but one of these appears to be ‘borrowing’ an idea or two (or the whole darn product) from the other.
1-Google.com/IG
With a gmail notifier, weather, and a few RSS tech feeds this is a cool idea that will catch on. Not that customizable homepages are anything particularly new or innovative (see MyYahoo, MSN) but Google does it well. …read more

RSS and the Here-and-Now
How does RSS affect us now?
Stay tuned for “How Does RSS Affect Our Future?”
1-News
We already see the differences that RSS feeds have brought to the way we receive our news. With sites like Fark, Digg, and Slashdot, we have numerous ways to find out what is going on in the world. And, even more exciting, this news is delivered to our aggregators reliably and in an easily digestible format. 50 headlines are alot easier to read than 50 stories. If I am particularly excited about a headline, I can select it to read the entire story.

Vists for Tablets Learns Your Personal Graffiti-Style
If you’ve ever been frustrated trying to write notes using graffiti ’shortcuts’ maybe the news that Vista will allow you to tailor your graffiti to your handwriting styles will put your mind at ease.
Here’s hoping it’s not just another ’smart’ feature that falls way short. While Microsoft has fought this addition, choosing instead to continue adding new examples to the general software, Gates says he’s always thought this was the way to go.

Linux Comes Standard on a Dell PC – Finally!
Dell introduces a Linux PC. The Dell Latitude 110L runs on Mandriva Linux. The specs are decent for an economy notebook (less than $1K). The Latitude 110L will sport a Celeron/Pentium M chip (1.4GHz or 1.7GHz), 256MB (upgradeable to 1280MB) and a DVD drive. Look for the base model to cost about $935 plush s/h.
Mandrakesoft is in talks with HP about releasing a similar product.

70 Hours Tube Time Gets Man Guiness Record
World’s top ‘Couch Potato’ stares way to title – MSNBC.com: “Joachim, who lives in Toronto but hails from Sri Lanka, now holds more than 16 Guinness records, including the longest duration balancing on one foot (76 hours, 40 minutes) and bowling for 100 hours. He does it, he says, to raise awareness of suffering children.”
Yeah right… I am so very aware of suffering children right now.
You mean it only takes 70 hours to get a world record in TV time? Meh. I could beat that on my XBox this weekend.
Maybe we could win the record …read more
