Outlook Has Met It’s Match

Zimbra does everything, yes I mean everything, Outlook does, but as an AJAX web app. You’ve probably all read my previous post on Mozilla’s Thunderbird and the issues I had with it. This thing makes Thunderbird look like AOL 3.1.

Here are just some of the features that got me really, really excited:

mouseovers – hover over a date and a mini-calendar for that day pops up; hover over an email address and get their contact info; best of all, hover over a web address and if that site has an alexa snapshot (and most do) a mini-preview of the site pops up.

tags – email is tagged, graphically with little colored tags that look like sales tags

skypeability – click a phone number and your skype opens and dials (other services like NetMeeting can be used if you ::gasp:: don’t have Skype)

GUI is attractive. C’mon I’m a girl. I appreciate how much better this thing looks that the other things out there.

APIs are available if you’re into that (I’m not). This thing is about to get really big really fast, it was the most exciting thing at the Web 2.0 conference, if that tells you anything.

Do yourself a favor check out what is about to take the web by storm:
