MS execs slam PS3 online service

MS execs slam PS3 online service

Just like the presidential bashing that happens during election year, the gaming industry disintegrates into verbal mish mash of bashing each others hardware, services, and strategies.

Microsoft is “flattered that they’ve followed our clear direction,” when referring to Sony. However, top MS execs still don’t understand PS3’s online strategy. MS execs see the service as hazy and not clearly defined.
Microsoft has room to criticize all other online services. Currently, they have the most advance, entirely seamless and only high definition online gaming service. Microsoft saw the market going in that direction and they made it happen.
Sony does have a long …read more

Fox Starts Covering Video Games

Fox Starts Covering Video Games

The video game industry has grown tremendously in the past ten years; so much so, that major corporations have now began to cover video game news. Fox.com now has a section, under technology, for video games. It’s really cool that a “main stream” news source is starting to take notice of video games.

Ubisoft Got “Lost”

Ubisoft Got “Lost”

Ubisoft has acquired the license to produce a video game of the popular show Lost. It seems as though Ubisoft was not the only one after the license to make the game; they had to try “diligently” to get the license. Ubisoft and Touchstone pictures will be making this game a reality for PC’s, consoles, and handhelds in 2007.
There are not many details, as of yet, about the game; however, I’m sure it will be a challenging game to make. The crews of lost are pretty excited. Supposedly most of the cast are gamers and are excited about working with …read more

Merrill Lynch’s Take on Next Gen Gaming

Merrill Lynch’s Take on Next Gen Gaming

“The PS3 will not only be significantly more costly than Xbox 360 at launch, but will continue to operate at a cost disadvantage for several years… The Xbox 360 could be selling at half the price of PS3 in the latter half of 2006. Taking Sony’s weakened financial condition and Microsoft’s deep pockets into consideration, we conclude that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 should emerge as the early winner in the next round of the game console wars.”

Video Game Sales Are Finally Up

Video Game Sales Are Finally Up

After seven months of lackluster video game sales, the gaming industry reports that there is now a bright side. Video game sales rose %16 during the month of April to $699 million. With the beefed up shipments of 360s,  the price drop of the PS2, and E3 hype gamers went out in masses to get what they wanted, games.
This is a great sign. I’m sure Microsoft felt somewhat responsible for the horrible sales the past few months. Gamers were in a transitional stage. Gamers could not find a 360, yet Activision, EA, and other game developers were spending millions on …read more

Paris Hilton’s Jewel Jam

Paris Hilton’s Jewel Jam

In an odd turn of events, Paris Hilton has not only released the first in a series of video games for mobile users, but she’s also inadvertantly called it by the wrong name:
Hilton Causes Stir at Video Game Expo
Paris Hilton unveiled her new video game on Thursday, but inexplicably called it by the wrong name as she greeted throngs of fans and photographers. Wearing a green minidress and red platform pumps, Hilton made a brief appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo to promote “Paris Hilton’s Jewel Jam.”

Starlets at E3

Starlets at E3

From Tony Hawk’s skateboarding stunt at E3 to Hollywood hotties all over the place, it’s now cool to be a geek…
Hollywood Goes Geek at Video Game Expo
“Desperate Housewife” Eva Longoria and hotel heiress Paris Hilton were also slated to attend the show to promote games, as was “ER” actor Shane West and others
So it’s finally cool to be a geek? Not fair…  I suffered through an awkward high school career and a lonely teenage existence to become a cool gamer now?
Grr…

Wonderful World of Halo

Wonderful World of Halo

Along with much other news that came out today, Halo 3 was announced, and a teaser trailer was shown at E3.
The trailer, of course, looked amazing, however, not much happened. Mastercheif just kinda stood there. But, I guess, they did not want to give away too much information in a “teaser” trailer. If you want to watch the trailer it’s currently on Youtube.com and on the Xboxlive Marketplace.

“Wii” will be cheaper than “them”

“Wii” will be cheaper than “them”

It’s no shock that Nintendo’s console will be cheaper than Microsoft and Sony’s consoles, however, no one really knows how low the price will be. But, I must mention that there is speculation that the price difference will be substantial. There have been roomers floating around, in forums, which speculate the price of Wii will be $249. That’s a big price difference between the 60gig PS3 price tag at a cool $599.
But that begs the question. Do I get what I pay for?
