PSP 2?

PSP 2?

I saw on PlayDesigns that there may be a PSP 2 already in the works? (via)
One thing Sony really did well was create a beautiful handheld with amazing graphics.  However, the price tag is too high for the majority of their target.  Maybe when the PSP 2 comes out the price on the PSP will go down enough that I can afford it. Of course, with all the racism charges that lead to Sony’s pulling the latest PSP billboard, they may market this thing to death as well. LOL

E3 Cancelled?

E3 Cancelled?

Picture found via Google Images here

Rumor has it that E3 will be canned next year, because game publishers see very little ROI (return on investment) from the millions of dollars they invest in their booth and booth publicity. Supposedly they’ll can it in favor of smaller shows, hopefully regional, and not just located in CA. (via Alex Morganis)

T3’s Reader Choose the Xbox 360 As Their FAV Console

XBox 360 Is the Favorite Console of T3 Readers
As an XBox 360 Fanboi I can agree, though I must say the competition was tight between the DS Lite and the PSP, as the 2 other candidates nominated.  I’m not sure the 360 is some technological marvel, as many say, they’ve just made very sure there is something to do on there, even right out of the box.  With LIVE!, the arcade and the backwards compatibility, you can use it even when you have no 360 games on hand.
The DS has widespread appeal and a small price point and offers up …read more

APProtect Gets VC: Anti Piracy in Video Games

APProtect Just Got $.75M in VC funding
The company, an Israeli startup, created software that protects video games (PC and consoles) from being ripped by all of you unscrupulous deadbeats.  Shame, shame, everyone knows your name…
Here’s how it works:

According to paidContent.org, the investors were:

ProSeed Venture Capital Fund
Technion Israel Institute of Technology
Chief Scientist through the Technion Entrepreneurial Incubator Company (TEIC)
For a company that was just founded last year, …read more

Patents and the PS2

Patents and the PS2

Sony’s latest patent:
The patent would prevent Sony PlayStations from playing used, rented or borrowed video games. This would cripple the First Sale Doctrine that consumers own physical goods they purchase and have the right to use or transfer such goods.
It is highly unlikely that Sony would actually use such technology due to outright consumer rejection. Typically such patents stake out territory so others can’t claim it and may be useful for licensing.
Are they suicidal?

Online Sporting Games

Online Sporting Games

As a person who hates sports games, I rarely take a look at their appeal, though I know that appeal is widespread.  I have friends who really enjoy playing through a season to see what they might expect in the World Series, ala Jimmy the Geek, though I am somewhat doubtful as to the predictability of such a scheme.
However, MediaPost’s article on online sporting games, “What it’s like” got me to wondering about sporting games.  Are we y’all playing them to find out what it’s really like to be a soccer star?  Are they fun in their own merit, or …read more

Ten Games On My ‘To Rent’ List for the XBox 360

Ten Games On My ‘To Rent’ List for the XBox 360

I’m a GameFly subscriber and I try to keep a running list and a full GameQ. These are some of the games that I am itching to play.
These games are all not yet out, but I’m reserving them so I can play them at the first opportunity. Of course, some of these aren’t even available for preorder yet anywhere.
I’m going to make a quick list here, and then go into greater detail throughout the rest of the week on why they look particularly great. I’d love your feedback. Did I miss one or two that haven’t …read more
