Wii Is Region Locked

While this doesn’t really affect US gamers to a large degree, European gamers are not happy.

US and Japan will get the games first, in most cases, and the European gamers will be forced to wait until their version is ready:

Region-coding for games is just plain annoying – especially for Europeans. You have to wait in many cases for a new game that already is available in the US or Japan until it is translated and available in local video game shops.

Region locked systems are a pain, but I agree that it, and the fact that you’ll get no DVD player in the Wii, really won’t affect unit sales. However, you’ll still see a fair amount of net-griping about it. Hey, it’s a slow news weekend…
