nVidia and Game Creator’s FPS Contest

While digging through all the b5 video game blogs, I came across Patrick’s post on the upcoming FPS challenge:

The FPS creator champion will be able to ink a publishing deal with Mastertronic and fufil his or her dream of creating a full blown [insert the number of levels here]-level First Person Shooting game that will hit the stores worldwide.

If you are not into shooting and throwing grenades like mad, the other way is to use DarkBASIC Professional to create the dream game of yours (with the exception of adult-themed games I suppose). You won’t get a deal in this category but you can get a complete PC system nevertheless.

So if you have an idea for an FPS or another type of game, and the will to create it, get your entry in by Jan 16.

The competition is split into two categories, one for FPS Creator and the other for DarkBASIC Professional. Entrants must create a one level first person shooter in FPS Creator or let their imagination run wild in DarkBASIC Professional – games will be judged on a number of criteria, including graphics, gameplay and sound. Full details are available here.

The FPS Creator winner will receive a top-spec PC and a publishing deal with Mastertronic, who will fund the development of the top entry into a 15-level game to be published and sold as part of their budget-priced range. Four runners-up will also win great Nvidia hardware prizes. Two DarkBASIC Professional winners will receive a complete PC system, with Nvidia SLI goodies up for grabs for second and third places. In addition, Nvidia will host the best entries on their website for visitors to play.
