Zelda Goes Online…Soon

Zelda, one of the largest video game franchises stemming back to the original NES, will make its online debut later this year. Phantom Hourglass, the direct sequel to Gamecube title Wind Waker, will be released later this year onto the Nintendo DS. TGDaily.com has the scoop:

“In an interview with Game Informer magazine, Zelda co-creator Eiji Aonuma was asked if The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass will have online multiplayer battles. Without elaborating, he just said, “Yes.”"

The limited online portable capabilities may pave the way for further, expanded online capabilities both on the DS and the Wii. The play will be two player labyrinths style play where one player is essentially the prey trying to escape and the other the predator. More to come on complete functionality once Nintendo elaborates on full capabilities.
