Mistwalker bringing 2 RPGs to the DS

by Kiven on October 3rd, 2007

As you know, a DS version of the Xbox 360 RPG and anime Blue Dragon has been rumored for some time now, and guess what? It became officially “official” today!

Mistwalker and Final Fantasy father Hironobu Sakaguchi are serving as producers on the tentatively titled Blue Dragon DS. Feel Plus, the development studio behind the upcoming 360 dramatic RPG Lost Odyssey, is the developer behind the title, with AQ Interactive serving as publisher. The game will see Japanese release in March carrying a price of 5,980 yen.

But that’s not all Mistwalker will be bringing to the DS:

Sakaguchi and crew have a second new RPG in the works for the DS as well. Away: Tsure Sareta Hitobito (The People Who Were Taken Away) will feature a scenario from Sakaguchi himself, music from Nobuo Uematsu, and character designs by Sonic the Hedgehog creator Naoto Ooshima. Artoon, the developer behind the Xbox 360 version of Blue Dragon, is developing the title, which will be released in Japan on 1/31/2008 through AQ Interactive. It too will be priced at 5,980 yen.

Given the success of the DS, new game announcements for the system don’t surprise us all that much. What is surprising is that Artoon and Feel Plus seem to have had their roles reversed.

I just hope that second RPG will have an English version. Somehow, all those Japanese names aren’t very reassuring.
