Star Trek Online dev beamed up by mystery buyer

Things haven’t been exactly rosy for Perpetual Entertainment. On October 10, the San Francisco-based developer announced that Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising, its Greco-Roman mythology-inspired massively multiplayer online role-playing game, had been put on “indefinite hold.”
The promising project was effectively canceled so Perpetual could devote more time on their other MMORPG in development, Star Trek Online. Perpetual was formed in 2004 shortly before it landed the coveted license based on the iconic science-fiction television and film series. Deus Ex 3 under development

Deus Ex 3 under development

The next installment in the Deus Ex RPG/action franchise is under development at Eidos’ new Montreal studio, and its official title is Deus Ex 3, according to the company’s web site.
In May, IGN reported that Eidos was working on the game, but details were – and remain – scarce. A teaser trailer is up at the Eidos site, and the company has several open positions listed.
I hope they make a game as good as the first…..

It looks like Mario and his pals still have “it”. Not only is Super Mario Galaxy the best reviewed game of this generation as of this writing, with the highest review average of any title on Wii, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, but it’s also the biggest early success story for Nintendo. Ubisoft has announced that it has entered a distribution agreement with Square Enix Ltd. to bring Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates to Australia & New Zealand. Both titles will be released across all PAL territories in early 2008 exclusively on the Nintendo DS.

The Xbox 360 has become the unlikely system of choice for 2D shooting fans this generation. Joining Taito’s Castle Shikigami 3, the latest issue of Famitsu reveals that Success is bringing Raiden Fighters Aces to the platform. Raiden Fighters Aces is a compilation of arcade shooters from the Raiden Fighters series. Included, you’ll find Raiden Fighters (1996), Raiden Fighters 2 (1997) and Raiden Fighters Jet (1998), all playable in their original vertical dimensions.

Ubisoft Montreal has just announced today it is developing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, the sequel to the hit tactical shooter released in 2006. The game, which Ubisoft said is planned for “next-generation consoles and PC,” is scheduled for release in March 2008 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Rainbow Six gaming franchise.

Despite losing it’s iconic leading man to the upper echelons of US politics, the Terminator franchise moves on. With the first film in a proposed new trilogy hitting cinemas next year, work on the inevitable tie-in game has already begun.
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins focuses on the exploits of now 30-year-old John Connor, and Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the film’s production company Halcyon will be dealing with the game’s development. Halcyon Co. have taken the bold step of setting up their own game studio to oversee production of the tie-in.

20 Million DS in Japan

For the 5 of you adding up all the weekly sales figures, you were probably already aware of this, but for those who have normal lives: sales tracker Media Create announced today that the DS has crossed the twenty million mark in Japanese sales. The feat comes less than three years after the system’s 12/2/2004 release. Sales have been particular brisk since the release of the DS Lite, as prior to the redesign’s release in February 2006, the platform had just reached the six million mark.
