LucasArts Prez steps down
Reports have come in saying that Jim Ward, President of LucasArts since 2004, is stepping down from his post. Citing personal reasons, Ward will be completing his tenure over the next two weeks. The search for a replacement has already begun. Howard Roffman, President of Lucas Licensing, will be filling in during the interim.
“We’re sorry to see Jim go,” said Roffman. “In his 10 years with Lucasfilm, Jim did an outstanding job of leading the marketing, distribution, and online divisions. Since taking over the reins at LucasArts in 2004, he rebuilt the internal studio, developed strong partnerships with top quality developers, and released a string of megahit games including the Battlefront and LEGO Star Wars franchises. He leaves a dedicated and very capable team as well as a strong slate of projects led by Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. We wish Jim all the best in his future endeavors.”
Ward is also on the Board of Directors for the Entertainment Software Association (ECA), although it is unclear if he will keep this status going forward. As of this writing, the ESA could not be reached for comment.
