ZeniMax Media Inc., the parent company of Oblivion developer Bethesda Softworks, today announced it has begun direct publishing operations in Asia with the establishment of its Tokyo-based subsidiary, ZeniMax Asia K.K. ZeniMax Asia will be publishing titles throughout Asian territories under the Bethesda Softworks brand.

RVINE, California. – April 24, 2008 – Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today announced the launch of the official Operation Darkness demo on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. This epic fantasy WWII turn-based strategy game demo features one mission, offering a variety of attack options and access to some of the more unique spells in the game (werewolves, anyone?).
Operation Darkness is currently scheduled for release on June 24 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

Ubisoft Sees 36 Percent Sales Jump In 2008

Ubisoft’s sales jumped nearly 37 percent during their latest fiscal year, which ended last month, skyrocketing from $1.07 billion to $1.46 billion over the year, the company announced during their annual call today.
The rise was mostly due to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Assassin’s Creed doing better than expected, they said. Vegas 2 sold close to 2 million, while 6 million copies of Assassin’s Creed were sold. Ubi said they were also happy with their Games for Everyone brand, which includes titles like My Word Coach and My French Coach and brought in $361 million.

After Electronic Arts lowered its offer to acquire Take-Two from its original offer $26 per share to $25.74, Take-Two still has rejected the offer.
“[EA's proposal] undervalued the company at $26 per share, and it certainly undervalues Take-Two at $25.74,” chairman Strauss Zelnick, said in a statement Friday following the revised offer.

Square Enix announced the final Japanese release date of July 17,2008 for the DS remake of Dragon Quest V. The game will carry a tax inclusive price point of 5,490, making it a few bucks higher than most DS titles. This is predicted to be another successful gme in the DS line of Dragon Quest games. The Dragon Quest IV remake, released back in November, was one of Japan’s top ten titles for the year and has, according to numbers released today by Square Enix, crossed the 1.15 million mark in domestic sales.
