DragonQuest V dated for Japan

Square Enix announced the final Japanese release date of July 17,2008 for the DS remake of Dragon Quest V. The game will carry a tax inclusive price point of 5,490, making it a few bucks higher than most DS titles. This is predicted to be another successful gme in the DS line of Dragon Quest games. The Dragon Quest IV remake, released back in November, was one of Japan’s top ten titles for the year and has, according to numbers released today by Square Enix, crossed the 1.15 million mark in domestic sales.

Not bad, Square Enix. Now, how about that Chrono Trigger Sequel? =)

In addition to these two remakes, Square Enix has also announced a remake of part six in the series. And, of course, Dragon Quest IX is on the way as well. While Square Enix hasn’t given a time frame for the DQIX release, developer Level-5 has said that it hopes to finish work on the game some time this year.

A new DragonQuest? Dated for Japan? As awesome as that may sound, if this game isn’t hitting Stateside, I wouldn’t care.

I’ve tried playing a DragonQuest in Japanese for the Famicom years ago (I forgot which), but it’s not a pleasant experience.

I think a new DragonQuest is fricking awesome because I actually love the franchise. I enjoyed the DragonQuest games, as long as they’re in English.

I don’t know what that has to do with FPSes.
