Nintendo’s Cammy Dunaway talks E3

Nintendo’s Cammy Dunaway talks E3

Nintendo’s Cammie Dunaway talks to Wired and wants to let us know that she’s not fake.
“Tell your blog that I’m really a genuinely smiley, nice person. Because people think I’m fake, smiling up there,” Nintendo’s new executive vice president said in an interview during last week’s E3 Media & Business Summit. Dunaway was referring to the company’s poorly received E3 press conference days before, in which she served as the lead presenter. Gaming fans watching at home, and even some in-person attendees, thought her exuberant performance sounded like false enthusiasm for the company’s lineup of mostly casual games.
For me, it’s …read more

Nintendo Planning e3 Announcements

Nintendo Planning e3 Announcements

In mid-July Nintendo is planning on divulging one of the biggest secrets (at least “secrets ” that we know about) at E3. The company is planning on announcing release dates for Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy, both for the Wii. The games are the next installments in two of Nintendo’s most popular franchises and knowing when they will make their debut on the Wii is big news. Both games are expected to be major releases and hits on the console when they eventually debut.
The report that broke the news on the announcements also states that Nintendo will …read more

Star Wars ‘Pre-Vis’ Trailer – Force Power

Star Wars ‘Pre-Vis’ Trailer – Force Power

This is a limited release trailer from Lucas Arts. It’s NOT actual gameplay, it was only created to offer up a ‘feeling’ of the game for E3 this year.
However, the team is well on its way to making the final product look as good as – maybe even better than – what you see in the video. (from Lucas Arts)
It’s not for a follow up of any existing game, instead it’s the first in a new series for the game publisher. The footage was part of a “behind-closed-doors tech demo of Pixelux’s Digital Molecular Matter, NaturalMotion’s euphoria, and examples …read more

VGXPO Touted As The Anti-E3

VGXPO Touted As The Anti-E3

“It’s time for a show that’s about games and the people who play them, and not just a giant party where everyone’s showing off their best pre-rendered video and earning kudos for best booth babes,” offered game industry veteran Bill Kunkel. “It’s time for an event where the smallest developers are considered just as important as the big publishers, and both groups get to show their wares directly to consumers and receive direct feedback from those same consumers. In short, it’s time for a show like VGXPO.”
Gamers at VGXPO will play games and give feedback as to how the games …read more

E3 Not Cancelled, But Improved (maybe)

E3 Not Cancelled, But Improved (maybe)

Yesterday Robyn wrote a post about E3 being cancelled bcause there was alot of hype about the Electronic Expo going down the drain. Now, however, the ESA has released an official statement regarding E3.
“E3Expo remains an important event for the industry and we want to keep that sense of excitement and interest, ensuring that the human and financial resources crucial to its success can be deployed productively to create an exciting new format to meet the needs of the industry. The new event ensures that there will be an effective and more efficient way for companies to get information to …read more

E3 Cancelled?

E3 Cancelled?

Picture found via Google Images here

Rumor has it that E3 will be canned next year, because game publishers see very little ROI (return on investment) from the millions of dollars they invest in their booth and booth publicity. Supposedly they’ll can it in favor of smaller shows, hopefully regional, and not just located in CA. (via Alex Morganis)

Unfinished Games

Unfinished Games

Have you ever been playing a game and walked out of the world?  I was reminded of this irritation last night while immersed in swimming off the Gold Coast in Oblivion when I just flipped from being miles underwater to being on a mountain summit.  Of course, I was only trying to up my athletics skill so I could level up (only a level 7 Wood Elf at present), so it’s not like I was in a deep action scene, but still, I certainly wasn’t expecting that.
I have seen another ‘glitch’ in the Garridon’s Tears scene that allows you to …read more

Paris Hilton’s Jewel Jam

Paris Hilton’s Jewel Jam

In an odd turn of events, Paris Hilton has not only released the first in a series of video games for mobile users, but she’s also inadvertantly called it by the wrong name:
Hilton Causes Stir at Video Game Expo
Paris Hilton unveiled her new video game on Thursday, but inexplicably called it by the wrong name as she greeted throngs of fans and photographers. Wearing a green minidress and red platform pumps, Hilton made a brief appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo to promote “Paris Hilton’s Jewel Jam.”
