A post over at Neogaf shows that the newest Sonic game is titled “Sonic and the Black Knight” and features Sonic holding a sword. Read that again for me. Sonic + Sword. I have no idea what goes on with Sega these days.

Here’s what we know so far: It is a Wii exclusive Sonic adventure and Sonic will indeed be holding/using that sword. At least it aint a gun…oh wait…

Rebellion has announced that it has acquired Empire Interactive’s former internal development studio, Razorworks, and it’s 30 staff will move across to Rebellion’s own Oxford set-up.
CEO Jason Kingsley revealed that Rebellion had been keeping tabs on the progress of Razorworks for two years, since the company’s previous acquisition from Empire of Strangelight: “We heard some very good things about the set-up, the team and their approach, which is very similar to our own,” he said. “So, when we had the opportunity to buy the studio, we seized it with both hands.”

EA confirms KOTOR MMO is in the works! Should World of Warcraft be worried?
In an interview at E3 2008, Electronic Arts chief executive John Riccitiello said that EA is working on the next version of Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic, and it will most certainly have a massively multiplayer online component to it.
“We’ve got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development,” said Riccitiello. The first title, based on the Warhammer property, will launch soon. “And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about — in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry at the point when we get closer to telling you about it.”
So, is this the much rumored Knights of the Old Republic Online? “Yes,” he said.

Following the announcement that EA Partners had been chosen to publish id Software’s upcoming Rage, id’s co-founder recently told gaming site GameSpot that he once took a very dim view of the way EA dealt with small studios.
“I’ll admit that, if you asked me years ago, I still had thoughts that EA was the Evil Empire, the company that crushes the small studios… I’d have been surprised, if you told me a year ago that we’d end up with EA as a publisher,” John Carmack said.
However, Carmack said his feelings changed after a number of EA’s existing partners gave the publisher the thumbs up.
“When we went out and talked to people, especially EA Partners people like Valve, we got almost uniformly positive responses from them.” Read More

Square Enix’s shares are up 3.2 per cent to JPY 3190 after Microsoft said the developer’s next title in the Final Fantasy franchise would be available on the Xbox 360, reports Bloomberg. It was announced at the recent Xbox 360 E3 press conference that Final Fantasy XIII will be available on the Xbox 360 console in the US and Europe, in order to reach the broadest audience in the West possible.
“We considered the hardware situation, and would like to provide Final Fantasy XIII to as many fans as possible throughout the world. It was because of the spread of the hardware,” corporate executive Shinji Hashimoto said during the company’s E3 briefing, reports Eurogamer.net.
The PS3 and 360 versions will have a simultaneous release in the US and Europe, although the European release will most likely arrive some time after the American one. Read More

Looks like me getting a PS3 for FF13 wont be necessary after all as Square-Enix announced Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360 at Microsoft’s E3 2008 press conference.
The announcement debuted in the form of a new trailer which initially looked like a Panzer Dragoon game with dragons flying in a trench. A ship lands in the trailer and flying mechanical soldiers drop out. Included in the trailer were massive airships.

Sony CEO Howard Stringer has reportedly dismissed Nintendo’s Wii as an “expensive niche” games machine. Speaking at the Allen & Co Media Conference last week, Stringer said the Wii doesn’t compete with the PlayStation 3 because it doesn’t have the ability to play Blu-ray movies or have full access to the internet. Hmm, where did i hear that before?
“I’ve played a Nintendo Wii. I don’t see it as a competitor,” said Stringer, reports Bloomberg. “It’s more of an expensive niche game device. We’re selling a lot of PlayStation 3s now and it’s still the best way to buy a Blu-ray player,” he added.

Well look at that, Internet rumors of an Xbox 360 price cut have been circulating for quite some time and Target went ahead and made it official from a retailing standpoint earlier today. The new Xbox 360 60GB model will retail for $349, which the “old” SKU Pro previously sold for. The Elite model, which comes with a 120 GB hard drive, remains at $449, and the Arcade SKU, which has no hard drive, is still $279. I hoped for an overall price increase with additional storage but that just proves that you dont always get what you want.
“We know consumers need more and more space to store the amazing digital content Xbox 360 offers, and we’re giving it to them at no extra charge,” said Albert Penello, Xbox director of product management at Microsoft. “No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment that Xbox 360 can deliver, and now you’ll have three times the storage to manage all that great content.”
