Wanting a DS Lite

Wanting a DS Lite

I really want a DS lite, there I said it. I’ve always been a sucker for handhelds. I always get a handheld, and then I realize I did not really want it. I realize that I’m usually home more than not, and I would rather be playing something on my TV. However, maybe the DS will be different (lol). Maybe, just maybe, I will actually use the DS and not lose it or get tired of it.
I think the rest of the U.S. wants a DS lite too. 136,500 DSs have been sold in the US in the first two …read more

Gaming as an Olympic Sport?

Gaming as an Olympic Sport?

There’s a movement to place video games in the exhibition sports category of the upcoming Olympics in China. That’d place it behind a number of official recognized sports that still don’t hold a place in the Olympics (bridge, billiards, chess and tug of war). Tug of war???

With the Olympics already cutting Baseball, Softball and others from the upcoming Olympics, I can’t see them making competitive gaming an Olympic sport any time soon.
While I know it’d be fun, just look at all your fellow gamers… How proud would you be to see them in a tight-fitting …read more

Unfinished Games

Unfinished Games

Have you ever been playing a game and walked out of the world?  I was reminded of this irritation last night while immersed in swimming off the Gold Coast in Oblivion when I just flipped from being miles underwater to being on a mountain summit.  Of course, I was only trying to up my athletics skill so I could level up (only a level 7 Wood Elf at present), so it’s not like I was in a deep action scene, but still, I certainly wasn’t expecting that.
I have seen another ‘glitch’ in the Garridon’s Tears scene that allows you to …read more

MS execs slam PS3 online service

MS execs slam PS3 online service

Just like the presidential bashing that happens during election year, the gaming industry disintegrates into verbal mish mash of bashing each others hardware, services, and strategies.

Microsoft is “flattered that they’ve followed our clear direction,” when referring to Sony. However, top MS execs still don’t understand PS3’s online strategy. MS execs see the service as hazy and not clearly defined.
Microsoft has room to criticize all other online services. Currently, they have the most advance, entirely seamless and only high definition online gaming service. Microsoft saw the market going in that direction and they made it happen.
Sony does have a long …read more

EA posts 16M 4th Quater Loss

EA posts 16M 4th Quater Loss

It looks as though the gaming industry is not so hot right now. But, I guess that’s not too big of a surprise. I think the strain of only having one next generation consol out there has caused a lull in game sales, and EA has definitely felt the pressure. EA announced that they lost 16 Million dollars in the 4th quarter of last year. And, after EA announced the 16m loss, their shares dropped another 7%.
At least one thing that contributed to the 16m loss was the shortage of Microsoft’s Xbox 360s. EA had invested millions in having about …read more
